Claudia Kaatziza Cortínez
Claudia is a visual artist and co-founder of LAZO, currently living/working between Buenos Aires and NYC. Her work focuses on the traces of objects that make up urban and domestic spaces, exploring how relationships between architecture, time, and memory become physical records. She makes photographic and sculptural impressions that investigate how light and residue transfer between surfaces, looking closely at how sites are constructed, decorated, occupied, and transformed over time. She received her BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and her MFA at Yale University. She is the recipient of the Alice Kimball Travel Grant from Yale University (2012), the Blair Dickinson Memorial Grant from Yale University (2013), and the Rema Hort Mann Foundation Grant in NYC (2013).
